Publishing Production – The Big Wait

I went to the Registry of Motor Vehicles yesterday. It’s always a stressful time. But I remembered how it used to be.

Used to be you had to wait. Pick a line and wait. Get to the window, and discover you didn’t fill in the form. Pick a new line and wait. Get to the window and discover it was lunch time. Pick a new window and wait….

wait

Publishing has been like that. Each task waits. Wait til the manager gets to it. Usually, the person who needs to do the task is waiting too. When the task is finally noticed, it’s almost always late already. Hurry, do it quickly, find someone who is not busy (no one is ever ‘not busy’) rush, rush, rush. And then wait, wait, wait.

Wait for the only person who knows what’s going on.. he’s in a meeting, and days slip by.

At the registry, you are given a ticket and your forms based on what you need. Clerks are assigned to types of tasks, and the load is balanced based on how many cases of each type there are. The wait is predictable, you have time to fill your forms, and the clerks handle cases much more quickly and pleasantly.

With Appingo, it’s much the same. It’s faster, more pleasant, and the work gets done with less stress and hassle for everyone.

So, my car is all registered and my projects are all on time.

Good for me.
