I was ‘On The Road’ yesterday. Not like the commuters, or like the Ford Taurus sales guys, or even like the buses of Korean tourists. No, I was a ‘Log-haulin, high-ballin’ hillbilly truck-drivin-man. I had my coffee, and my iPod, and I was drivin’.

It was fun. It’s been a long time since I’ve been out for a road trip. But there are a LOT of people driving, hard, fast, aggressive, and in some cases crazy. I’m glad that I don’t commute.
My part in the day was a one-way drive. I got to ride the Acela back. That’s a NICE ride. There’s nothing like seeing the sod farms of southern Rhode Island flying by at over 100 mph. Cool.
But here’s the interesting part:
On the train back, I sat with a young man who had been to his company’s quarterly meetings. His sales group had reported 102% of budget sales (over $4 million). Needless to say he was quite pleased. The product offers better value than the competitors and at a lower price point. He spent some time working; e-mails, calls, etc.
And then, he spent quite a bit of time studying the ‘Lexus’ web site and looking at ‘Cape Cod Real Estate for Sale’
I say that’s an economic indicator, and proof that providing better value at a lower price point is highly rewarded.
